Mais Afaneh was born in Jordan and moved to the United States at the age of 2 with her parents. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor’s in Science, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. After her undergraduate studies, she relocated to Tampa, Florida to pursue her law degree at Western Michigan University’s Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Ms. Afaneh earned her Juris Doctorate in 2018. During her time in law school, she served as the Secretary of the ACLU organization. Upon graduation, she passed the Florida Bar and began her practice as a Family Law Attorney. Ms. Afaneh is fluent in Arabic.
